Today Stacey, Randy and I went over to Georgia's to learn how to make moqueca, a dish that is very common in our part of Brazil. It's made with coconut milk, tomato, cilantro, dende oil (a cardiologist's nightmare), and shrimp. There were a few other ingredients that I know I'm forgetting, but you get the idea. We ate it tonight at our Brazil night. Yum.

Gordon Dabbs, from the Rio team, was at Brazil Night too. After dinner we got to pick his brain about all sorts of things. He told us about their team and some of the things they'd tried and about their very successful tv program. He showed us a tape of the show. I was very impressed- it's pretty high quality. It was nice to get to meet another one of the people we will see on our survey trip so there will be familiar faces all the way across the world.

On a totally different note, Kelton Porter turned one month old today! I just realized that I didn't even announce his birth here so I'll do that now. Here's an email Randy and Jenn sent out about it:

Kelton James Porter is here!

He was born Sunday Feb 1 at 3:01 pm

He was 8 lbs 1 oz and 20 inches long

He has lots of red hair and is the most beautiful baby you ever saw!

Jennifer is recovering well. We are really enjoying these first few weeks (we say that now that we have gotten a little bit of sleep). The learning curve is high but all of us are adjusting to our new life together.

Thank you for all your prayers. God is so faithful.

Love,

The Porter Family =)
